On May 5, 2010 in the Italian city of Brescia will start legendary race of the old cars Mille Miglia, whose title translates as "A Thousand Miles". Rally, which began to carry out in Italy as early as 1927 on the initiative of the Automobile Club of Brescia, today is one of the oldest and most exciting car events in Italy. However, the original sports component in the race now moves to the background. In the first place "Mille Miglia" is a demonstration of old luxury cars.
This year participants and their amazing cars can be seen in many Italian cities. The route of the race is a ring. "Thousand Miles" starts in Brescia, then reaches Rome and then returns to Brescia, bypassing dozens of picturesque Italian cities, among which especially stands out Bologna.
To date, in the race are involved cars that were produced in the "Golden Age" of car making: between 1925 and 1960. Among last year's participants could be seen a lot of cars that are true museum pieces: ALFA ROMEO 6C 1500 Super Sport of 1928, the prototype of current Formula 1 racing LANCIA Ardea of 1952 and hundreds of unique antique cars, presented by leading European manufacturers.
The current race starts on May 5 and will be held for 5 days till May 9. Start of the rally is scheduled on May 6. The first participants will start their route at 19.30 from Viale Venezia in Brescia. It is worth noting that especially for the general public there will be demonstrated old cars. Thus, in Brescia, they can be seen on the Piazza della Loggia from 8.30 to 15.30, in Bologna on Piazza Maggiore and Piazza Galvani at midnight from 6 May to 7. In Rome, a parade of unique cars will be near the Castel Sant'Angelo on May 8 from 8.30 am.
