Several American publications, including authoritative magazine People, reported about the upcoming wedding of the director Sofia Coppola. According to the U.S. media, Sofia’s wedding will take place at an ancient villa in Italy, owned by her father, the legend of the world cinema Francis Ford Coppola.

Palazzo Margherita is the heart of the wine estate of the Coppola family, located in Southern Italy in the Matera province. It will host the wedding ceremony.

Currently, at the Coppola family estate are carried out preparations for the ceremony. The bride's father is busy with reconstruction of the villa, which was built in the 19th century.

Sofia Coppola spouse is Thomas Mars. They have two children: 4-year old Roma and 2-year old Cosima. For Coppola it will be the second marriage. Prior to that, the author of the hit "Somewhere" was married to the director Spike Jones.

Coppola's villa is located near the town of Bernalda, which is also known for the ruins of an ancient Greek city of Metaponto. Bernalda is considered as family mansion of the Coppola family. Nearby is located another well-known architectural artifact of Italy - the cave city of Matera. It is worth noting that Matera was also mentioned in Hollywood. Its caves, included into the UNESCO World Heritage List, were decorations for the filming of Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ".

Sofia Coppola is one of the iconic American filmmakers of the new wave, whose works are recognized both by critics and viewers. In 2010 for the film "Somewhere" Coppola won the "Gold Lion" - the main prize of the Venice Film Festival. During her career Coppola was also nominated for Oscar with her film "Lost in Translation".

Holidays in Italy near the Coppola estate can be booked right now. Basilicata apartments, hotels and villas are available online.
