Trying of 400 kinds of Italian wine in one day is this task easy to perform at one of the largest wine festivals in Tuscany, which starts in Lucca on May 7, 2011.
Italian name of the festival Anteprimavini della Costa Toscana can be translated as "Meeting with wines of the Tuscany coast". The festival will takes place in the medieval streets and squares of the historic center in Lucca.
The main "hero" of the festival is expected to become one of the most famous varieties of the Tuscan wine - Morellino di Scansano, which is made in Grosseto. Also at the festival tourists will be able to get acquainted with traditional regional variations of Chardonnay and Merlot, which are produced in the province of Lucca.
In total, in the festival will take part 80 major wine producers. In addition to the province of Lucca also will present their wines winemakers from Grosseto, Pisa, Massa, Livorno and Maremma coast. To the Anteprimavini della Costa Toscana are also invited winemakers from the Rhone Valley in southern France.
In 2011, the festival will celebrate its first anniversary - 10 years since the date of the first Anteprimavini della Costa Toscana. This time festival guests will be offered not only traditional wine tasting, but also seminars of the well-known winemakers, as well as the opportunity to learn the secrets of winemaking from Tuscan dynasties.
In addition to wines at the festival tourists can also try famous Tuscan delicacies: salami and cheeses. 14 restaurants in Lucca will offer customers a menu with already included glass of wine. And traditions of producing gastronomic delights are no less ancient than the winemaking. So, Trillo family, which will offer salami to the festival guests, produces this delicacy since 1793.
Wine festival in Tuscany will last two days, on 7 and 8 May.
