However, it should be noted that the village is non-residential. The last resident left it in the 1960s. Today Pratariccia is abandoned. Waist-high grass has grown in the yards of its 25 houses. Nevertheless, 800-year history of the village and a certain wild charm could play into the hands of a monastic order, which sells it.
The monks own Pratariccia. In addition to the wilderness, history and connection with religion, the village has another feature that promises to attract potential investors - it is located only 30 kilometers from Florence.
Perhaps, proximity to the Italian national art treasury forced the monks to set an initial price at 5 million Euros. However, having faced with low demand, the order was forced to cut the price by half, reports inquisitr.com.
The idea to put up the Italian village for sale on eBay belongs to an Italian realtor Carlo Magni, who has been finding a buyer offline. According to Magni, Pratariccia several times was close to selling. So, it could have been bought by the Italian artists in order to organize here the craftsmen commune.
Perhaps, one of the limiting factors was condition of buildings in Pratariccia, which is far from ideal. Nevertheless, the place itself allows the seller to count on success. The village is situated at an altitude of 800m above sea level and surrounded by picturesque hills of Tuscany.
Although selling of an entire village via eBay is a new thing for Italy, human settlement trading is not a new idea. Among the recent examples is put up for sale medieval village in the territory of the national park in Abruzzo.
