Season of dog beaches opened in Rome
On May 1, 2012 in Rome opened the season one of the oldest pet beaches in Italy - Bau Beach located near the town of Fiumicino.

Bau Beach is located in the Maccarese region to the west from Rome. In 1998 it became the first beach in Italy offered its services to pets.

On the Bau Beach dogs are fully free. They can run and jump as many times as they wish. For the four-legged pets there are special bowls with fresh water, as well as special food areas, where dogs are offered eco friendly food. Animal can also use special beach furniture designed by PETSMOOD.

This beach is not only a recreation center for dogs. Here many homeless animals have a chance to find new owners. Every weekend mongrels from Rome nurseries will be delivered here. Over 800 dogs have found new owners after years of conducting such event.

Now Bau Beach has a few simple rules for the animals. The first and most important - the animal must not be aggressive. Dogs are allowed to stay on the beach without collars. And the owner is obliged to carry vaccination history of the pet.

On the beach is open a wide range of services for dogs, including hairdresser and veterinary services.

The cost of daily visit is 4 Euros. Bau guests have the opportunity to purchase subscription for multiple visits, which costs 10 Euros.

Today there is a chain of beaches for dogs in Italy. For example, on Sardinia near Cagliari operates Baubau beach. Rimini also has its dog beach. It is Beach 33. Special dog beach is available on the Etruscan Coast near the city of San Vicenzo.
