Baia Verde: Beach, Kitesurfing and Coastal Landscape

Baia Verde is a coastal destination on the central Ionian coast. The “Isola di S. Andrea e litorale di Punta Pizzo” Regional Nature Park was established by Regional Law No. 20 of 10 July 2006. In addition, Baia Verde’s beach received Legambiente’s “3 Sails” award. Kitesurfing with courses and several wind directions

Baia Verde is a kitesurfing spot on the central Ionian coast. The spot can be used with several wind directions, particularly Scirocco and Libeccio, and offers easy access to the water. This means it is not aimed only at experienced athletes: Salento Coast Ovest offers kitesurfing courses for beginners through advanced riders at Lido Pizzo in Baia Verde (Gallipoli).

If you want to learn kitesurfing or deepen your skills, you will find a course programme organised by experience level there. Salento Coast Ovest also offers repairs for kitesurfing equipment. This allows sport-focused days to be combined with time on the beach and an interest in local wind conditions.

Beach activities by day, evening entertainment at night

Baia Verde’s beach establishments turn into venues for happy hour and open-air discos at night. Alongside its coastal character, the area therefore has a distinctly different nighttime rhythm. When choosing a hotel or other accommodation, you can consider whether you want to focus your trip more on time at the beach, kitesurfing or the evening offerings. Observing wetlands and waterbirds

Regulation on the summer shuttle

On 29 May 2026, the Municipality of Gallipoli issued a regulation for a free summer shuttle between the public car park next to the municipal stadium and the southern coast as far as Baia Verde.
