Tricase between history, sea and flavor
Tricase combines historic architecture, maritime tradition, regional culinary culture and landscapes in a diverse travel experience. Cultural sites, practical maritime activities, traditional crafts, regional dishes, as well as caves, beaches and a nature park offer a range of different highlights.
Palazzo dei Principi Gallone
Palazzo dei Principi Gallone is one of Tricase’s most important architectural monuments and is now home to the municipal administration. The complex consists of three main elements: the Torre, the Torrione and the main building itself. The central structure was built in 1661 by Stefano II Gallone, the first Prince of Tricase. Those interested in architecture and local history will find several clearly identifiable structural elements here, as well as a specific historical context, without reducing the palazzo to a single façade.
Maritime tradition at Porto di Tricase
As part of a modular program, the Scuola Municipale di Vela Latina e Antica Marineria offers lessons, seminars, workshops, practical exercises and guided tours. In winter, it involves young people and adults in practical activities for maintaining the museum boats and reconstructing traditional objects. In this way, Tricase’s maritime character is combined with learning, traditional craftsmanship and the history of the boats. La Rena e le Sette Bocche is located in the oldest part of Porto di Tricase, on an old beach and in ancient caves that were used by fishermen and traders for centuries.
Regional cuisine and creative spaces
Il Cantiere del Gusto organizes courses and seminars on traditional recipes for processing and preserving products from the sea and coast. It also offers culinary experiences with tastings of typical dishes prepared by chefs and participants. L’Antica Scuola San Luigi is now a studio for art and crafts, as well as a residence for artists, craftspeople, educators and facilitators. Both places reveal different aspects of local practice: culinary work on the one hand, and art and crafts on the other.
