Nemoli between Lago Sirino and the historic center

Trails for hiking and cycling

Section SI T06 of the Sentiero Italia CAI runs from Conserva di Lauria to Lago Sirino and is 15.1 km long. From Lago Sirino, SI T07 leads past the springs that feed the lake to the former Calabro-Lucano railway line. This is now a cycle path and part of the regional hiking trail network as route no. 660. The different distance figures help you distinguish the documented trail sections when planning: 15.1 km refers to section SI T06, while the former railway section used on an excursion at Lago Sirino is 4 km long.

The 4 km-long former railway section features viewpoints, galleries, bridges and viaducts. The focus is not only on moving through the landscape, but also on the connection between the former railway route and today’s trail. SI T07 runs from Lago Sirino, past the springs that feed it, to this railway line. Today, a cycle path runs along it; at the same time, the section forms part of the regional hiking trail network as route no. 660. When making your choice, you can therefore distinguish between a longer hiking stage and a shorter section characterized by historic structures.

Historic center and local specialties

Nemoli’s historic center invites you to take a close look at its small-scale architecture. Arcades, 18th-century palaces and carved stone portals are found among the lanes and stairways. Palazzo Filizzola is an old aristocratic residence. The Strada delle Calabrie also passes through Nemoli’s central square, making it one of the town’s specific urban reference points.

Cuisine is also part of the local character. Typical dishes from Nemoli include Rafanata, Strascinati with sausage sauce and sweet fried Crespelle. The event Saperi & Sapori nel centro storico takes place in Nemoli’s historic center, in the lanes next to the town hall.
