Marina Di Varcaturo: Coast, Beach and Island Views
Marina Di Varcaturo between the coast and the dune remnant lake
The low-lying, sandy coastal stretch along the Litorale Domizio extends for more than 3 km from Marina di Varcaturo to Lido di Licola. The expanse between these two place names already shapes the spatial perception of the coast. Golden sand and a sandy seabed that slopes gently define the landscape at Varcaturo Beach. From the beach, there are sea views of the islands of Ischia and Procida. The coastal stretch extending over more than 3 km is a consideration in its own right when planning a day at the beach. Alongside the island views, the gently sloping seabed is another factor to consider when planning a day at the beach.
Nearby lies Lago di Patria, a rear dune remnant lake formed when sand dunes closed off the area towards the sea. The lake is not of volcanic origin. Its formation and its location behind the dune ridge give the surroundings an independent landscape reference in addition to the beach.
Beach with different sections
Some sections of Varcaturo Beach are freely accessible, while others are operated under concessions by bathing establishments. The bathing establishments offer various services. This division is relevant when planning a day at the beach: a freely accessible section and an area with a bathing establishment represent different conditions, without the entire coastal stretch following a single form of use.
The various services are tied to the bathing establishments, while the freely accessible sections represent a different form of beach visit. Thus, the arrangement relates to individual beach areas and is not understood as a uniform requirement for the entire coast.
Families at the beach
Varcaturo Beach is also suitable for families with children.
Orientation with a time reference
A tourist information point was set up in the town of Marina di Varcaturo, in the municipality of Giugliano. It operated daily and provided information leaflets for the coastal area as well as brochures about Parco di Liternum. The information point was therefore located directly in the town and combined materials about the coastal area with information about Parco di Liternum.
At the Marina di Varcaturo bathing water site, ARPAC carried out additional, unscheduled sampling in August 2026. Within the monitoring network for bathing water quality in the Campania region, Marina di Varcaturo received the classification “Eccellente” for 2020.
Evening beach parties
Scilla Cafè in Castel Volturno, Via Marina di Varcaturo km 46, hosts evening beach parties every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The fixed days of the week provide a set time frame for the evening programme.
Menu and beach facilities
The Osteria at Sabbia d’Argento offers a culinary menu featuring dishes from land and sea, accompanied by fine wines. The Sabbia d’Argento beach resort provides parasols, sun loungers and deck chairs with generous spacing between them. The culinary offering and the beach facilities are two separate services provided by Sabbia d’Argento.
