The history of the place is also tangible. In the past, the Viale dei Tigli in Campigna attracted numerous travellers, writers and poets. The grand-ducal palace, dating from the 18th century, was converted into a hotel and served the House of Lorraine as a hunting lodge until the last century.

At 1,657 metres, Monte Falco is one of the peaks surrounding Campigna. It places the town in a pronounced mountain landscape without implying any particular route.
