Public Art
In Santa Maria Nuova stands the Monumento ad Aldo Spallicci. It was inaugurated in 2013 and created by the artist Sandro Pagliuchi. It was installed in the school area of Santa Maria Nuova Spallicci.
A street-art mural is located in Santa Maria Nuova on Via Pablo Neruda, near the intersection with Via Santa Croce. It was created by the street artist Mohamed L’Ghacham. The mural is part of the public art trail "Scuola dell'immaginazione". Its location near the intersection with Via Santa Croce gives the mural a precise place within the streetscape. The monument and the street-art work therefore create different focal points within Santa Maria Nuova.
Palazzi, Villa and Religious History
Palazzo Cavalli is a historic palace in Santa Maria Nuova on Via Cavalli. The private property is located at Via Cavalli 500 and is associated with the decree of 18 December 1966. The small chapel of Villa Cavalli is decorated with stucco work depicting the Assumption of the Virgin Mary into heaven, viewed by Saints Peter and Paul. The chapel complements the palace with a sacred space featuring stucco decoration. The private status of Palazzo Cavalli clearly distinguishes it from a public art trail.
The Madonna della Neve is also part of the historical references associated with Santa Maria Nuova. Historically, horse races in Santa Maria Nuova were connected with the festival of the Madonna della Neve. Around the time when Santa Maria Nuova became a parish, around 1580, the Madonna della Neve was probably venerated as the patron saint of the local community. Those interested in history will find here both the festival connection of the Madonna della Neve and the parish history dating to around 1580.
