Tredozio between the Tramazzo Valley and the Foreste Casentinesi

Tredozio lies in the Tramazzo Valley on the border between Romagna and Tuscany. At the same time, the town is part of the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna National Park.

Lago di Ponte and trails through the upper Tramazzo Valley

Lago di Ponte lies above Tredozio on the Tramazzo River and was artificially created in 1962. The Sentiero Natura Lago di Ponte begins at the lake. This trail runs through the upper Tramazzo Valley and connects the starting point at Lago di Ponte with a hike through the surrounding landscape.

For a longer tour, the Sentiero delle Foreste Sacre leads in seven stages from Lago di Ponte di Tredozio to La Verna. The route is therefore connected not only with Tredozio, but also with a broader itinerary extending over several stages. Depending on whether you are considering a single hike in the upper Tramazzo Valley or planning a multi-day route, different trail concepts are at the center.

Historic traces in the town center

The Tredozio park information office is located in the historic town center. It is housed in a building that was the first location of the local post office in the 16th century. The Vicolo Mercatale, the old entrance to the village, is also part of the historic town structure.

The Pieve di San Michele dates from the 12th century and houses a crucifix painted in the 14th century by the Rimini school. The Chiesa della Compagnia and the Oratorio della Beata Vergine delle Grazie were built in the 14th century. This architectural setting is complemented by the Torre Civica, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages.

Palazzo Fantini, museum and notable names

Palazzo Fantini was built before 1500. The Museo della Civiltà Contadina is located nearby. The museum preserves agricultural tools and machinery and is divided into thematic areas. This makes it possible to explore the history of rural life in Tredozio through tangible objects and an organized presentation.

The Castellaccio dei conti Guidi is also known as Castello dell’Aquila. The name refers to its position on a rock.

Local tradition and Paciàrela

The Sagra e Palio dell’Uovo in Tredozio draws on an Easter tradition of egg tapping that was formerly practiced in the nearby Parrocchia di Ottignana. The historical reference therefore lies in the inherited tradition and its former location. Another local specialty is Paciàrela, a polenta dish with leeks and beans.
