The grand halls of Villa Anguissola Scotti feature frescoed ceilings and house luxurious furnishings. In this way, the building combines the impact of designed interiors with artistic details. Castello della Bastardina offers a different accent: it stands in a pre-hill park between the Luretta Valley and the Tidone Valley and has a spacious courtyard with an elegant portico featuring nine arched openings.
The complex has a rectangular ground plan and five stone and brick towers. One important restriction applies to visits: the Castello la Boffalora complex is not accessible from the inside. However, its perimeter can be walked along a path suitable for strolls. This makes the site particularly suitable for viewing from the outside and walking around the complex.
A centuries-old tradition also shapes the connection between religious customs and the landscape. As part of this tradition, the statue of the Virgin Mary is carried on foot through the Luretta stream on the following Sunday and returned to the Pilastrello Sanctuary. The stream is therefore not merely part of the landscape, but also part of this time-honoured ritual.
Wine country, horses and cycle paths
The Agazzano area lies along the Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori dei Colli Piacentini. The name refers to the connection between wine and regional culinary experiences in the Piacentine Hills. In addition, there are riding stables and riding schools in and around Agazzano offering horseback excursions and trekking.
