Ars Canusina: Craftsmanship with Matildic Influences

Ars Canusina refers to the traditional crafts of the former lands of Matilde di Canossa. It is inspired by the Romanesque ornamental motifs of the Matildic area. The original production criteria are protected for embroidery, ceramics, leather, embossed metal, and low-relief works in wood and stone.

Hiking on the Via Matildica del Volto Santo

The Via Matildica del Volto Santo descends from Castello di Sarzano to the first houses on the outskirts of Casina and continues through Casina towards Migliara and Marola. The castle includes a keep and monumental areas intended for visits. Hikers are asked to contact the relevant office by email before setting out to obtain the official hiking certificate and up-to-date information on trail conditions.

Nature between Forest, Lake and Protected Area

The Bosco del Bocco can be reached on foot from the SS 63 state road at Mulinetto via CAI Trail 626. Lago dei Pini is a natural area with public access. The Natura 2000 site IT4030018 also includes Casina. In the heart of the town lies Parco Pineta, a green space.

Bergogno and the Bosco della Pentoma

Bergogno is one of the best-preserved hamlets in the Reggio Emilia area and is of environmental and architectural interest. Access to the hamlet is restricted; there is a car park at the entrance. The Bosco della Pentoma is easily accessible from Bergogno. Easy paths run along the Pentoma stream and lead to a protected hart's-tongue fern, a sulphur spring, a small grotto and a small waterfall.

Churches, Views and Summer Performances

The church of Cortogno dates from the 18th century and is dedicated to Saint George, San Giorgio. From Leguigno, views extend over the peaks of Parco del Gigante, the valleys below and the Val d'Enza area as far as Parma. The parish church of San Giovanni Battista in Leguigno is accessible; the area in front of it is gravelled. Parco Pineta also features an open-air theatre for summer events and performances.

Parmigiano Reggiano in Casina

The Fiera del Parmigiano Reggiano takes place in Casina on the first weekend of August. The edition of the Fiera del Parmigiano Reggiano di Montagna held from 1 to 4 August included tastings, show cooking, a market, entertainment and historical re-enactments.
