Cattolica is the southernmost seaside resort on the Adriatic coast of Emilia-Romagna and lies on the border with the Marche region. Beaches, harbor and experiences at sea
Le Navi is the largest free beach in Cattolica. Cattolica’s free beaches can be accessed at no charge and are easy to reach on foot or by bicycle. This makes the beach one of the obvious choices for a stay, without limiting yourself to paid beach areas.
The historic harbor of Cattolica is a traditional base for the local fishing fleet. Excursions with the Narvalo depart from Marina di Cattolica and are accompanied by experienced skippers. Cutter excursions depart directly from the beach or from the harbor of Cattolica; many include swimming stops in particularly attractive bays. Some providers of cutter excursions also organize sunset aperitifs at sea.
Culture, history and aquarium
The Teatro della Regina offers a high-quality and continuous program. The Museo della Regina documents the history of Cattolica, particularly the Roman Republican period and the town’s maritime tradition. It includes an archaeological section and an ethno-anthropological section on traditional maritime culture. During the summer season, the Arena della Regina hosts open-air performances and concerts.
The Acquario di Cattolica is a marine-themed park whose technology-focused attractions enable encounters with marine animals, including sharks. From Cattolica railway station, the Acquario di Cattolica can be reached by bus 125 to stop 71, “Cattolica Aquarium.” The four routes at the Acquario di Cattolica – Blue, Green, Yellow and Purple – are indoors; in bad weather, queues may form outside.
Countryside, activities and local specialties
Visitor activities from Cattolica include cycling tours in the surrounding countryside and trekking tours in nature. A SPASS offers seven guided excursions from Cattolica through villages, hilly landscapes and to culinary destinations in the Romagna countryside.
