The 50 Murales del Borgo form an open-air art exhibition in the historic town centre. They depict important and curious inventions of the 19th century and create a colourful open-air museum along the characteristic streets. In addition, Saludecio’s medieval Torre Civica is used as a venue for temporary exhibitions. Art and historic architecture therefore interact at various locations in the town centre.
Another focus is the Museo di Saludecio e del Santo Amato. The museum displays altarpieces from the churches of Saludecio, including Guido Cagnacci’s 1628 painting “Processione del SS. Sacramento”. In the vestibule, you can also see Roman and medieval finds from the area around Saludecio. These include a votive stone dedicated to the woodland god Silvanus from the 1st century BC, as well as a funerary inscription for the freedman Elio Elpideforo from the 3rd century BC.
Santo Amato Ronconi and sacred history
One room of the museum is dedicated to Santo Amato Ronconi. It contains votive offerings and coffins in which the saint’s uncorrupted body was kept at various times. The religious history of the town also includes the Chiesa parrocchiale San Biagio – Santuario Santo Amato Ronconi. It was built between 1794 and 1803 and has an underground crypt in an elegant neoclassical style.
