History with Pieris names

Villa Settimini was built in the final years of the 18th century by Giobatta, the last representative of the Settimini family.

In the 1850s, Antonio Cosolo and his wife Gisella opened a wine business in his parents’ home in Pieris. In 1939, Mario Cosolo returned to Pieris and gave his dessert the name Coppa Vetturino. In both cases, Pieris remains the specific local connection: in the wine business’s family home as well as in Mario’s return in 1939.

Cycling with clear route orientation

The FVG2/d Variante dell’aeroporto cycling route can be ridden on any bicycle, including a bicycle without gears. It runs almost entirely flat on paved roads shared with other traffic; particular caution is required. Two practical points therefore matter for your planning: bicycles without gears are explicitly included, and the shared roads require attention. The absence of gears is not an exclusion criterion when choosing a bicycle; during the ride itself, traffic remains the decisive factor.

Via Turriaco and Pieris, the FVG2/d leads to Fiumicello and then continues towards Aquileia. Route I5 connects Pieris and San Canzian with Parco dell’Isonzo. Parco dell’Isonzo is one of the particularly impressive sections of this route. Direction is decisive when choosing between the two routes: the FVG2/d continues to Aquileia, while the I5 includes San Canzian and Parco dell’Isonzo.

Culture in the Surrounding Area
