Budoia between nature trails and culture

Budoia can be explored through nature trails, historic sites and regional mycology. The destinations range from a permanent exhibition in a former dairy to paths through gorges, valleys and the Colli di Santa Lucia.

Museum, festival and historic traces

The Museo del Fungo is a permanent exhibition in Budoia’s renovated former dairy. The Festa dei Funghi e dell’Ambiente hosts the regional mycological exhibition, dedicated to the study of fungi. It has been held in Budoia for almost 50 years. Culture enthusiasts will find the Museo del Fungo, the Festa dei Funghi e dell’Ambiente, Fortezza del Ciastelat and the Chiesetta di Santa Lucia in Budoia.

The archaeological site of Fortezza del Ciastelat preserves the remains of a fortress from the 10th century AD. The original structure of the Chiesetta di Santa Lucia in Colle also dates back to the 13th century. During restoration work, a fresco attributed to Gianfrancesco da Tolmezzo was discovered there in 1987. From Budoia, the Chiesetta can be reached via a well-maintained forest path.

Landscape along short routes

The Cunath Gorge forms pools and waterfalls beneath high rock walls. The Sentiero naturalistico Troi de Gor is a 2 km-long nature trail in the Colli di Santa Lucia with a low difficulty level. The 2 km route length and low difficulty level can be taken directly into account when planning your day.

The Sentiero naturalistico San Tomè runs through the valley of the Torrente Artugna from Dardago to San Tomè. The route is 2.5 km long, has an elevation gain of 200 m and a low difficulty level. For San Tomè, the 2.5 km distance, 200 m elevation gain and low difficulty level should all be taken into account when planning. The Sentiero del Ruial follows an old water conduit made of hewn stone dating from the 17th century.

Ciampore, the fortress and cycling

The Ciampore area is a large green space at the entrance to the Val de Croda. It has a car park, outdoor play areas, barbecue facilities and toilets. The route from Ciampore to Fortezza del Ciastelat takes ten minutes. It is 1 km long, has an elevation gain of 70 m and a low difficulty level. Anyone including the route to the fortress in their day plan can allow ten minutes, 1 km and 70 m of elevation gain.

A 15.4 km cycling tour runs from Budoia-Polcenigo railway station to Sacile, follows the Ciclovia del Livenza (FVG 7) almost entirely and includes the return journey by train from Sacile.
