Arta Terme between paths, frescoes and regional flavours

Arta Terme reveals itself through several clearly distinct facets: the pools of the Terme di Arta, paths through parks, churches with medieval frescoes, nearby mountains and regional specialities. This gives you a choice of different focal points that can be sensibly considered side by side when planning your trip.

Pools, parks and accessible paths

The Terme di Arta has heated pools with hydromassage jets, a dedicated children's pool with water features and a slide, as well as an indoor pool connected to an outdoor pool. When travelling with children, this children's pool provides a clear focal point. The Percorso Rosa begins in the Terme park, passes through the playground and the park of Palazzo Savoia, and continues towards the centre of Arta. The Percorso Blu is barrier-free and accessible by wheelchair.

Frescoes and distinctive church forms

The Chiesa dello Spirito Santo in Chiusini has frescoes from the late 14th century in the ribbed vault of the ceiling. The chancel vault contains frescoes of the Evangelists and their symbols, painted around the middle of the 15th century by the German artist Thanner. On the rear wall is a fresco of the Adoration of the Magi, painted by Giovanni Martini towards the end of the 15th century.

The Chiesetta di San Nicolò degli Alzeri was built in the 13th century next to accommodation for warrior monks and pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land. The church of San Nicolò degli Alzeri also preserves a 13th-century fresco cycle. The parish church of Piano d’Arta displays a different architectural language: it was built in 1781 in an unusual octagonal form, based on a design by the Tolmezzo architects Domenico and Angelo Schiavi.

Mountains in the surrounding area

Monte Cucco and Monte Cuar are located in the immediate vicinity of Arta Terme. Both mountains complement the paths and churches with a connection to the landscape.

Discover regional products

Small shops in the region around Arta Terme offer honey, cheese, typical Carnia Cjarsòns, as well as plum and pear distillates. If you include regional cuisine in your trip, you will find a varied selection here, ranging from traditional foods to distillates made from locally grown fruit.

Shape your stay around your interests

When choosing a hotel in Arta Terme, you can use your preferred daily rhythm as a starting point: Should the spa be the main focus, or a path, the churches with their frescoes, the nearby mountains or shopping for regional products? This allows you to choose accommodation based on what you would particularly like to explore in this area.
