Bertiolo combines sacred art, historical traces, water-shaped landscapes and regional wine culture.

Churches and Historical Traces

The bell of the Chiesa della Santissima Trinità bears the year 1287 and is considered the oldest bell in the entire province. The Chiesetta della Santissima Trinità is also considered the oldest church in the Bertiolo area. During restoration work in 1989, the remains of a 7th-century AD temple and a necropolis dating from the Lombard period were discovered there.

The present-day Chiesa di San Martino dates from the late 17th century and was consecrated in 1702 by Patriarch Dioniso Dolfin. Inside are a choir fresco by the French painter Loche, a painting by Politi and an altarpiece of the Rosary by Francesco Pavona. The complex also includes an 18th-century loggia. Its frescoes, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, depict scenes from the Passion of Christ and form the Stations of the Cross.

Villa, Park and Water-Rich Landscape

In Sterpo, the former castle was transformed into Villa Colloredo Venier in the 18th century. An ancient tower was preserved and became the centre of the new villa. Villa Colloredo Venier is located in a park between the Stella River and the Patisce and dei Mulini waterways, near the rural hamlet of Sterpo. In the park of Sterpo Castle stands an English oak, Quercus robur, which is more than five centuries old and is considered a monumental tree.

The lower-lying area of Bertiolo, particularly around Sterpo, has marshy and waterlogged soils. There, groundwater emerges at the surface as risorgive. The Risorgive di Virco biotope lies in the municipalities of Bertiolo and Talmassons, covers 81.67 hectares, rounded to 81.7 hectares, and forms part of the protected Risorgive dello Stella area. The Anello Bertiolo–Virco per risorgive circular trail passes by the beginning of the Virco biotope. The biotope was established in 1998 and is protected because of its high natural and environmental value.

Faith, Music and Wine Tradition

An Ottavario di preghiera is traditionally held every year at the Santuario di Screncis in honour of the Beata Vergine di Screncis. This octave of prayer includes a procession in which the image of the Beata Vergine is carried from the parish church to the Santuario di Screncis.

The local musical tradition also has a long documented history: the first written mention of the Filarmonica di Bertiolo wind band dates from November 1812. At the celebration of San Martino, wind and string musicians accompanied the singers at that time. The Festa del Vino takes place every year in March around the feast of San Giuseppe. Typical stalls selling wine and local agricultural products are set up along the town's streets.

The Enoteca di Bertiolo is a rural building dating from 1800 that was formerly used as a cellar. Guided wine tastings are held there on special occasions. In this way, ecclesiastical art, landscape and rural wine culture come together in Bertiolo to create a diverse local character.
