Orsaria between the Middle Ages, the Natisone and the Vineyards

Orsaria is perched steeply above the right bank of the Natisone River. The village combines a distinctive landscape setting with preserved historic structures and several independent cultural and culinary connections. Historic buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries are still visible north of Orsaria. They are considered to be of great historical and environmental value. Their features include exterior wooden balconies and stone façades with religious frescoes from the early 20th century. Itinerario nei Colli Orientali

After crossing the Natisone River, the Itinerario nei Colli Orientali leads to Orsaria. The route runs between vineyards, parks and gardens, adding a landscape accent alongside the historic references of the village. After the Chiesa di San Ulderico Vescovo, the Itinerario continues onto an unpaved combined cycling and walking path that runs through vineyards. Theater and Traditional Characters

The Teatro Orsaria was built in 1901 from stones taken from the demolished San Ulderico church. The hall was given the name TeatrOrsaria in 2007. In the historic Mascherata di Orsaria, Carnevale and Quaresima—Carnival and Lent—are the two most emblematic and charismatic figures. In this way, cultural references to time and traditional figures add another perspective to the village’s architectural testimonies.
