Tower Clocks and the Bergallo Archive
The Fabbrica di orologi da torre Bergallo operated in Bardino Nuovo in the manufacture and sale of tower clocks from 1877 to 1987. The Bergallo family had already been making tower clocks in their home workshop in Bardino Nuovo from 1861 to 1980. The Fabbrica archive contains documents from the 19th century through 1995, including a document from 1753. If you are interested in craftsmanship, technology and local history, you can give your stay here a clear historical focus and consciously distinguish between the different periods.
Chiesa di San Sebastiano and the View across the Valley
A second important highlight is the Chiesa di San Sebastiano. The church in Bardino Nuovo was built between 1681 and 1708. On November 19, 1797, it was elevated to parish status after being separated from the parish of Bardino Vecchio. This means that, in addition to its tower-clock history, the village also offers an approach rooted in church history, which fits well into a culture-focused visit.
The square in front of the Chiesa di San Sebastiano offers a sweeping view across the entire valley and towards the Ligurian Sea. If you enjoy alternating between architecture, history and expansive panoramas during your trip, this is a particularly concrete reason to pause amid the village setting.
Exploring Borgata Bosi in Practice
Borgata Bosi is another tangible facet of Bardino Nuovo. Paving and various footpaths there have been restored. In addition, new architectural lighting has been installed. Both measures concern the design of the borgata and give it its own architectural accent alongside the historical themes. For orientation on site, it is worth planning this area as a distinct part of your visit to the village.
Cycling Tour and Walk in Nature
A guided cycling tour runs from Pietra Ligure via Tovo San Giacomo and the Via del Ferro to Bardino Nuovo and back to Pietra Ligure. If you would like to combine cycling with getting to know smaller villages, this route provides a concrete option for planning your day.
A section of the Via del Ferro in the municipality of Tovo San Giacomo is suitable for an easy walk in nature. This allows you to consider a historical visit to the village and a short hiking or walking segment as different focuses of your trip, without combining them into a single route.
Getting There and Choosing Where to Stay
The nearest railway station is Pietra Ligure; Bardino Nuovo can be reached from there via TPL Linea route 86. For travelling by public transport, this connection is the key reference point for your planning.
