Spotorno offers more than two kilometres of beach and crystal-clear sea. When planning your trip, you can combine this natural highlight with cultural discoveries and walks. Alleys, Views and History

Via De Maestri, with its arches and small squares, is considered an almost intact example of spontaneous architecture. The small squares divide the course of Via De Maestri into individual sections. Those interested in organically developed townscapes can regard the street as a tangible reference point for an architectural walk through Spotorno. Castello Di Spotorno, a castle, is located in the immediate vicinity of Spotorno. Its ruins offer a panoramic viewpoint.

The watchtowers on the hills around Spotorno were built towards the end of the 16th century to spot Turkish galleys at an early stage and to provide shelter in the Castello for people unable to fight. Around the town, you will therefore encounter historic traces with different functions and links to different periods.

Museums, Literature and Special Details

The Museo del Turismo is located next to Spotorno's town library and tells the story of how Spotorno was discovered as a destination for holidays and spa stays. A plaque commemorates the centenary of D.H. Lawrence's stay in Spotorno and can serve as the starting point for a route dedicated to D.H. Lawrence.

Spotorno has five sundials. The first is a large sundial on the façade of Spotorno's parish church and shows the progression of the hours according to the old “uso italico”. The Oratorio di S. Caterina preserves woodwork and artistic paintings. Both topics add details to the visit that extend beyond the beach and landscape.

Walking Route and Practical Information

The right-hand path of the tourist walking route leads through terraced olive groves to the edge of the Bosco della Lexea. The route complements Spotorno's architectural and cultural-historical themes with a landscape-oriented perspective.

The Casa del Turismo, inaugurated in 2017, houses the central tourist information office with information material, brochures and services for visitors and residents. At the nearby Isola di Bergeggi, diving is permitted only when accompanied by an authorised diving centre and never at night.
