Voze between Roman Roads and Mediterranean Landscapes

Voze brings together historic routes, sacred sites, and a landscape shaped by the contrasting impressions of olive cultivation and Mediterranean maquis. The village was located along the ancient Ligurian-Roman coastal road; to this day, one of the former customs watch huts used to collect the duty can still be seen there. Following in the footsteps of the Via Julia Augusta

From Voze, a historic hiking trail follows a section of the Via Julia Augusta. Another route leads to the rural chapel of San Giacomo and onward into the Val Ponci. There, the Via Julia Augusta crosses five Roman bridges dating from the 1st century AD. The combination of route, valley landscape, and Roman structures gives the surroundings a historical depth that is particularly suited to travelers who do not wish to view the landscape separately from its history.

Churches, chapels, and a festive date

In Voze, the Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo stands on the site of a rural chapel dedicated to Saint Peter. The Chapel of Santi Rocco e Sebastiano is located along the road from Voze to Vezzi Portio and adds to this picture of small sacred sites along the routes. On June 29, the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul is celebrated in Voze in the church dedicated to them. Route N.8 Anello Vista Mare climbs toward Voze in the Finale area along a paved panoramic road.
