Adrara San Rocco between forest paths, churches and waterscapes

Adrara San Rocco combines diverse natural and cultural experiences within a compact thematic area. Here you will find short circular routes by the water, longer climbs to Colle Dedine, wooded mountain paths and historic places with visible traces of their past. There are also the Santuario dei SS. Faustino e Giovita, small churches and chapels, as well as a family-run business near Corna with its own products.

Hiking trails for short and longer tours

The Sentiero ASR 01 – Percorso vita runs along the Torrente Guerna through the greenery and is equipped as a fitness and adventure trail. The route is 3 km long, has an elevation gain of 20 m, takes about an hour and is classified as easy. The ASR 02 – Il bosco e la fauna circular route is also 3 km long. It passes through themed areas for environmental education on the wooded slope of the Valle di Bondo. The circular route is accessible at the Romanesque church “Ai morti di Bondo”; there is a large parking area there.

For a shorter tour, the Sentiero ASR 03 – Coren is available. It is 1.4 km long, has an elevation gain of 50 m, takes about 30 minutes and is classified as a tourist trail. Climbing is possible on the rock face of Coren using permanently installed bolts. Footpath 7 begins in Adrara San Rocco and leads to Colle Dedine in up to five hours, with an ascent of 739 metres. Sentiero 714 connects the Adrara Valley with the Vigolo Valley via an old mule track and Colle Dedine.

Forest, streams and views

The paths differ considerably in terms of landscape. Sentiero 744 passes through dense coniferous forests and by the rural settlements of Bariletti and Piei. Sentiero 714A runs through beech and larch forests and crosses two streams. There is also a table with benches along this path; from there, the path offers views of Lake Iseo, Monte Guglielmo and the Valle Camonica with its high peaks.

The upper course of the Torrente Guerna also shapes the experience of nature: there are gorges, waterfalls, pools and natural rock slides, and the area is suitable for canyoning. The large pools in the rocky stream bed are called “Tinelle”.

Churches and historic townscapes

The Santuario dei SS. Faustino e Giovita contains paintings by Cambianica as well as vaulted frescoes by Giacomo Belotti. Over the years, it has become a frequent destination for pilgrims. Adrara San Rocco is also home to Contrada Forno, a medieval hamlet. Traces of travertine can still be seen on old windows at street level.

In Contrada Dumengoni, the water intake channel and the reconstructed water wheel are still visible. The historic townscape also includes the small Chiesa dell’Annunciata al “Forno”, which was built in the first half of the 20th century. A small church or chapel dedicated to San Giuda Taddeo is located about 30 metres from the Chiesa dell’Annunciata al “Forno”. It can be reached via the path to the left of the church.

Honey, soft fruit and jams

Near the village of Corna, there is a small family-run business that produces honey, grows soft fruit, and makes and sells jams.
