The Parco della Pineta di Appiano Gentile e Tradate stretches between the settlements of Appiano Gentile, Binago, Tradate and Mozzate. Sentiero 543 begins in the historic centre of Appiano Gentile at Parco di Villa Rosnati. It crosses the central part of the park from east to west as far as Tradate, passes through Piazza Libertà and by the parish church of Santo Stefano, and continues to the Madonna del Monte Carmelo chapel. Sentiero 841 takes a different route: it leads through the forest to the paved road to the “La Pinetina” Golf Club in Appiano Gentile and continues to the Appiano Gentile sports field before heading back into the forest. Churches, architectural history and local events

The historical side of Appiano Gentile includes the Chiesa di San Bartolomeo al Bosco, a religious building complex dating from the 11th to the 17th century. The Chiesa della Fontana stands in Piazza Fontana and was built between 1653 and 1661. The original Chiesa dell’Addolorata e di San Giuseppe served as a hospital for plague patients between the 16th and 17th centuries, giving rise to the name Chiesa del Lazzaretto. The present-day Chiesa dell’Addolorata e di San Giuseppe was built in 1729 and is a single-nave church with a semicircular apse and barrel vaults. In addition, Villa Cagnola at Via Pozzone 1 is a villa dating from the 18th to the 19th century.

The local events also give the town its own rhythm. The patronal feast of Santo Stefano is celebrated on 26 December, while the Sagra appianese takes place during the first ten days of September. The Appiano natura market has around 20 stalls selling food and other goods.
