Church and Architectural Heritage

The present-day parish church of Chiesa di San Giorgio e dell’Immacolata Concezione dates from 1752 to 1755. It was built on the ruins of an older church dedicated to San Giorgio and dating from the 14th century. This makes it possible to see Carimate’s layers of history in a specific building: the 18th-century church and its 14th-century predecessor. Castello and Torchio

Castello di Carimate is currently used as an event venue. From 1976 to 1986, Stone Castle Studios operated in Castello di Carimate. The Cappella Gentilizia della famiglia Arnaboldi was built in 1876, adding another clearly dated building to the architectural history. Golf Club Carimate also has a clearly datable history of development. The first nine holes were laid out in 1962, and the second nine three years later. The clubhouse was completed in 1962 by architects Vico Magistretti and Guido Veneziani. The golf course passes through botanical grounds containing ten thousand plants. Literature and Events

The Club del Libro di Carimate meets once a month to discuss the selected book and exchange opinions. The literary series “Un castello di libri” takes place in the Piazzetta del Torchio, Piazza Castello 4, Carimate. The “Castelli in aria” festival also takes place at this address, in the Salone e Corte del Torchio.
