Golferenzo Among History and Wine Landscapes
Golferenzo combines village history, art and regional wine culture with sweeping views across the Versa Valley. From Golferenzo, you can look out over the extensive vineyards and the entire Versa Valley.
Art, Church and Traces of the Castle
At Palazzo Belcredi-Belloni, changing works by various artists are displayed as part of a collaboration with Galleria d’arte IKonica.
The Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Nicolò is the parish church of Golferenzo and the hamlet of Pizzofreddo. The history of the castle is also part of the village landscape: Golferenzo Castle was destroyed in 1216 by troops from Piacenza. A tower of the castle has been preserved in a building near the church.
Several buildings with their own historical context can be found in the wider region around Golferenzo. Rocca di Montalino is a fortress in the vicinity of Golferenzo. Castello di Rivalta is a castle in the wider regional area, as is Castello Visconteo. Dattili Palace is located there as a palace. These different architectural forms provide several starting points for exploring the culture and history around Golferenzo, without reducing the village to a single building.
Wine and Local Cuisine
At Convivium, private homes and gardens in Golferenzo open their doors to participants. Restaurants from Oltrepò present a modern interpretation of a traditional dish, paired with several wines from the region. Private spaces, regional cuisine and wine thus come together directly, making local food culture visible as part of village life.
SaXbere Street End Wine is an event in the medieval village of Golferenzo featuring wine tastings from more than 60 wineries, stalls selling typical products and traditional dishes. For your travel planning, Golferenzo therefore also represents a place where regional products and wines form a clearly recognizable focus.
Landscape in the Wider Area
In addition to views of the vineyards and the Versa Valley, mountains in the wider region shape the landscape perspective. Pietra Parcellara, Pietra Perduca, Monte Penice and Monte Armelio are mountains in the wider regional area around Golferenzo.
When choosing accommodation for your trip to Golferenzo, you can therefore weigh up different interests: art and the church in the village, the history of the castle, wine events and regional cuisine, or the landscape with its vineyards, the Versa Valley and the mountains in the surrounding area. This allows you to align your stay with the focus that you and your fellow travelers would most like to experience.
