Wine country among the hills of Monferrato

Castel Boglione is located in the Monferrato wine-growing region, among the hills of Alto Monferrato. The e-bike Nizza Tour runs through the hills and vineyards that produce Nizza DOCG. Architecture and remembrance

The architecture also makes its own statement. The Chiesa del Sacro Cuore di Gesù e Nostra Signora Assunta was inaugurated in 1914 in an eclectic neo-Romanesque style with Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical elements. It has three naves, a large central octagonal dome and a Latin-cross floor plan. The former Castello di Castelvero stood in the area of Castel Boglione and was destroyed around 1230 in connection with the founding of Nizza Monferrato. The Monumento ai Caduti di Castel Boglione is dedicated to commemorating those who died in the war. This historical span ranges from the destruction of the castle around 1230 to the commemoration of those who died in the war.

Routes and the Big Bench

For days spent cycling or walking, there are various routes and a place to take a break. The cycling and hiking trail through the Buffer Zone passes through Montabone, Castel Boglione and Rocchetta Palafea. La Strada del Nizza offers a place to rest at a Big Bench. The Panchina Gigante Rossa e Blu was inaugurated on 11 August 2019 near the Cascina Garitina farm. It has a red seat and backrest, as well as a blue base. The Panchina Gigante Rossa e Blu is one of the artistic Big Bench installations found mainly in the Langhe and Monferrato. The cycling and hiking trail therefore passes through three towns, while La Strada del Nizza incorporates a Big Bench as a place to rest. The routes thus differ in their specific focus: one features several place names along the way, while the other includes a single installation along the route.

Experience wine

Wine can also be experienced through specific offerings. By prior appointment, the Araldica Enoteca organizes tours and wine tastings. It offers Araldica wines, wines from the Il Cascinone, La Battistina and Santa Seraffa wineries, as well as a selection of wines from the best wine-growing regions of Italy and the world. The Cordara Claudia winery offers wine tastings, wine sales and tours. The wine experience thus ranges from the pre-arranged tour at Araldica to the additional sales offered by the Cordara Claudia winery.
