Alpine landscapes and protected nature

Coazze combines an alpine landscape with clear changes in vegetation. Around the town are irrigated meadows, chestnut groves and extensive beech forests; higher up, broad pastures with scattered conifers and rhododendrons follow, before the landscape culminates in rocky mountain ridges. This gives you a destination whose natural environment can be explored across different elevations and landscapes.

Many small alpine lakes lie among the mountain ridges and pastures around Coazze. A large part of the Coazze area also lies within the Orsiera-Rocciavré Regional Nature Park. Mountain landscapes, lakes and protected nature therefore collectively shape the character of the town and give a trip to Coazze a distinctly alpine focus.

Hiking trails and specific places to visit

The Coazze tourist office provides information about hiking trails as well as particularly interesting historical, artistic and cultural sites. Registration with the Coazze tourist office is required to visit the Miniera di Garida.

The Giro dell'Orsiera is also connected with Coazze: the stages begin and end in Borgata Molè, in the municipality of Coazze in Val Sangone. This stage structure makes the town interesting for visitors who want to explore the mountain landscapes of the Orsiera area and longer hiking routes.

Villas, resistance history and crafts

Coazze's character as a Belle Époque resort can still be seen today in the magnificent Liberty-style villas around the old town center. The former town hall of Coazze houses the exhibition rooms of the Ecomuseo della Resistenza. The Ecomuseo della Resistenza della Val Sangone recounts the history of the Resistance in Val Sangone, giving the town a historical dimension alongside its architecture.

The cultural landscape also includes the Ecomuseo Alta Val Sangone with its weaving workshop. The exhibition rooms of this ecomuseum are used for temporary exhibitions. They can be visited free of charge during the tourist office's opening hours; these hours vary depending on the season.

Religious heritage and local specialty

In Forno di Coazze, the Santuario Grotta di Nostra Signora di Lourdes represents another historical and religious point of reference. Don Giuseppe Viotti decided to build a replica of the Grotto of Massabielle, where the Madonna appeared to the young Bernadette.

Cevrin di Coazze is a Slow Food Presidio and is classified as a traditional agricultural and food product of the Piedmont region. It is also included among the typical products of the Province of Turin. Cevrin di Coazze is produced exclusively during the grazing season, from March to November. Its seasonal production also connects the product with the seasonal rhythm of pastoral farming in Coazze.
