Grugliasco between Parks, History and Culture

Grugliasco combines parkland, historic religious architecture, museums and local festivals. In the heart of the old town lies Parco Culturale Le Serre. It covers more than 35,000 square metres and combines nature, history and culture. This allows you to tailor your stay around historic buildings, Piedmontese culture or events.

Historic Sites and Piedmontese Culture

The Cappella di S. Rocco is one of the oldest chapels in Grugliasco and is documented as existing as early as 1500. Its present appearance dates from a renovation carried out between 1826 and 1828 based on a design by the architect Ignazio Michela.

The Museo Gianduja is deeply rooted in the region’s traditions and dedicated to the Piedmontese puppet character Gianduja. Its collection includes marionettes, hand puppets, brochures, postcards, historic photographs and objects.

Villa Claretta Assandri is a 17th-century mansion set in a large park and houses the Museo del Grande Torino e della Leggenda Granata. The visit follows a thematic and chronological route that connects sport, culture and society through memorabilia, documents and photographs. In Grugliasco, a historic site thus meets a museum that links sport and remembrance with broader social contexts.

Parks for Culture, Exercise and Time Outdoors

Parco Porporati is a public, equipped park with playgrounds, fitness equipment and outdoor exercise trails. The park can be reached on foot or by bicycle.

Festivals and Events Throughout the Year

The festivals and customs also add their own distinctive touches. The Palio della Gru takes place in cooperation with the Associazione Cojtà Grugliascheisa on the first Sunday in June. At the former celebration of Saint Roch on 16 August, a procession led by members of the Santa Croce brotherhood took place. The statue of Saint Roch was carried, while bread brought by dancing girls was blessed to the accompaniment of music.

The Carnevale dei Parpoijn includes a fancy-dress parade, games for children, an opening evening featuring the appointment of the masks, and a final bonfire on Shrove Tuesday; it is organised in cooperation with the Pro Loco di Grugliasco. Stragrugliasco in bicicletta is a cycling event held in cooperation with the Associazione AdB – Amici della Bicicletta.

Which Themes Suit Your Trip

These themes can serve as different focuses when planning your trip: the museums and chapel appeal to cultural and historical interests, the parks complement your stay with nature and exercise, while the Palio, carnival and cycling event tie your visit to specific dates and community events.
