Piamprato among meadows and coniferous forests

Piamprato lies in a hollow shaped by meadows and is surrounded by coniferous forests. This landscape accompanies the paths to viewpoints, lakes, passes and extensive high plateaus. As a result, short walks, more demanding mountain hikes, mountain biking experiences and winter sports come together within a compact thematic area.

Hiking destinations with different rhythms

From the centre of Piamprato, you can reach Big Bench No. 115 with a walk of about one hour and around 200 metres of elevation gain. This makes the route a manageable excursion if you are planning a shorter outing in the landscape.

On the route to Colle della Borra, views open up over the upper end of the Ciardoney valley as well as the Campiglia and Piamprato valleys. Along this route, there are opportunities to observe marmots at the Grange di Vandilliana and slightly below the Grange della Borra. On the slopes of the pass and along the ridge to Rosa dei Banchi, you can also look out for chamois.

The route from Piamprato to Lago Santanel takes approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes, is classified as difficulty level E and is recommended for the months of June to September. On the return journey to Piamprato, it passes through a larch forest and by a waterfall formed by the Rio Santanel.

Another destination is Grange Prariond. The path there leads to extensive high plateaus where marmots and grazing herds can be found. These open areas provide a different accent from the forest-surrounded village and complement the tours to the lake and pass.

Mountain biking and winter sports

The surroundings can also be explored by mountain bike along a dedicated route. The route from Piamprato to Grangia Ciavanassa leads to Pratorotondo, where downhill riding is also possible, and continues to Ciavanassa. There is a viewpoint above the Piamprato basin, so the route combines sporting sections with a clear connection to the landscape.

In winter, Piamprato ski resort has a ski lift with a downhill run approximately 1 km long. The ski resort also includes a beginner’s area with a conveyor belt, a children’s slope and a “Baby Snow Park”.

Architecture and religious heritage

“Lo Pra” places a theme at the centre of Piamprato that connects 18th-century architecture with the itinerant work of the “ruga”, meaning plumbers. The term therefore refers both to the history of construction and to a historical form of work associated with the village.

The Cappella di San Grato is opened according to the schedule of religious services. If you include this place in your plans, its possible opening will depend on the services scheduled there.
