San Gillio offers several clearly distinguishable points of interest: Villanova and Sant'Egidio refer to its history, while La Mandria and Primavalle focus on nature. Castles, a palace, a museum, gardens, parks and riding lessons broaden the view of the surrounding area.

Villanova and Sant'Egidio

A prominent historical reference is the Villanova of San Gillio. In 1324, Filippo di Savoia-Acaia reached an agreement with the inhabitants of San Gillio on the construction of the Villanova. The Villanova of San Gillio was completed as early as 1331. It was built on a different hill from the former settlement. Its development can therefore be traced chronologically from 1324 to 1331 and geographically through the change of hills.

The small medieval church of Sant'Egidio still exists today and is in a fairly good state of preservation. In 1887, the parish church of Sant'Egidio was extended by two side chapels next to the main altar. Both references make sacred architecture an important part of the town's history.

Architecture and Culture on Site

La Bizzarria is an eclectic pavilion with a central floor plan, three small lookout towers and exterior paintings, and is associated with San Gillio. In addition, the municipal library in San Gillio offers art and theatre courses on its premises. The cultural spectrum thus ranges from an unusually designed pavilion to art and theatre courses.

Nature and Landscape

La Mandria Nature Park also encompasses the municipality of San Gillio. Lago Borgarino belongs to the Primavalle area, which is one of the areas of Piedmont with particularly high biodiversity.

In the wider regional surroundings of San Gillio lies Goja Del Pis, a waterfall. Monte Musinè is a mountain near San Gillio. Nature enthusiasts can therefore choose from different landscape features, ranging from a waterfall to a mountain.
