Almazzago combines paths through the forest and village with views over the lower Val di Sole, a snowshoe route and the history of the San Rocco Chapel. The Cammino di Carlo Magno passes through the village, while the routes to the Malghetto start from Folgarida and Marilleva 1400. The historic centre is home to the chapel dedicated to Saint Roch. Folgarida is the starting point for one route to the Malghetto and the beginning of the snowshoe route; Marilleva 1400 is the destination of the snowshoe route and the starting point for another path.

The Cammino di Carlo Magno through Almazzago

The tenth stage of the Cammino di Carlo Magno leads to Daolasa and then follows an uphill path through the forest to Almazzago before reaching Dimaro.

As it passes through Almazzago, the Cammino di Carlo Magno follows the main road as far as the turn-off for Via per Liberdon. The route also descends from Almazzago along a paved road before reaching the cycle path. For stage planning, the uphill path through the forest, the paved road and the subsequent cycle path can be considered separate sections.

Paths to the Malghetto di Almazzago

The easy route from the cable-car base station area in Folgarida leads to the Malghetto di Almazzago. There, a viewpoint offers views of Dimaro and the entire lower Val di Sole.

From Marilleva 1400 to the Malghetto di Almazzago, the route first crosses a small valley and then follows a narrow, unpaved path through dense coniferous forests to the destination. When choosing between the two paths, the easy access from the base station area is contrasted with the narrow, unpaved forest section from Marilleva 1400. The different surfaces can serve as a separate point of comparison between the two routes when planning the day.

A snowshoe route in winter

The snowshoe route Al Malghetto di Almazzago runs from Folgarida via the Malghetto di Almazzago to Marilleva 1400. The Malghetto lies along this route between Folgarida and Marilleva 1400 and is also the viewpoint overlooking Dimaro and the entire lower Val di Sole.

Chapel and local history

The historic centre of Almazzago is home to the chapel dedicated to Saint Roch, San Rocco in Italian. The church is dedicated to Saint Roch and Saints Fabian and Sebastian.

The chapel was built between 1511 and 1513 following a vow made by the inhabitants in connection with the plague of 1510.

Liberdon and the road to Folgarida

Liberdon is located in the lower part of Almazzago towards the Noce River, while a road in the upper part leads to Folgarida. The hamlet consists of a small group of Rustici that have now been converted into residential homes.
