Baselga di Piné: Discover Lakes, Nature and Culture
Accommodation in Baselga di Piné
Baselga di Piné combines two different travel experiences: Lago di Serraia, the municipality’s main lake and suitable for swimming, and Lago delle Piazze, with its freely accessible beach. In addition, there is protected nature, a variety of trails and historic sites that you can combine according to your interests for an active, relaxing or culture-focused stay.
Lakes, shorelines and protected nature
Spiaggia ai due Laghi is located in Località Campolongo on the left shore of Lago delle Piazze. The beach is freely accessible and has equipment for free training, a beach volleyball court, a public toilet and a small playground. Dragon boating, stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking are possible on Lago di Serraia. The lake area therefore offers both peaceful moments by the water and various forms of water sports.
Laghestel also represents the landscape-focused side of Baselga di Piné. The area is a provincial nature reserve and also a Special Area of Conservation. The visitor trail at Laghestel begins in Località Ferrari and presents no technical difficulties.
Trails for different day plans
The Giro dei laghi dell’Altopiano can be considered in two approximate variants: if you walk around Lago di Serraia alone, the route is about 4 km long; walking around both lakes takes about 12 km. The Bedolpian hike, on the other hand, is a circular route that runs entirely along gravel paths, starts and ends in Baselga di Piné, and is suitable for families and dogs. This allows you to choose between a shorter lake circuit, a longer loop and a family- or dog-friendly circular route.
Sacred art and historic buildings
Montagnaga, a hamlet of Baselga di Piné, is home to the Santuario della Madonna di Piné, which is associated with five reported Marian apparitions between 1729 and 1730. The sanctuary comprises a late Baroque building with works by Francesco Unterpergher and Elena Zambaiti, as well as numerous painted votive offerings.
The Antica Pieve di S. Maria Assunta combines Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements. Its furnishings include a carved and gilded high altar in the Baroque style. Another historic site is the Albergo Museo alla Corona. It is one of the early buildings in Trentino constructed exclusively for hotel operations and was founded in 1883. Historic furnishings, photographs and documents from the period when it was in use are preserved there. Visits are possible on the dates indicated in the calendar, with advance reservation.
The restored medieval Mulino Moser di Prada is now also a museum. Together with the churches and the Albergo Museo, it provides access to different traces of the area’s history, from sacred art and historic hotels to the milling tradition.
Plan your time in Baselga di Piné to suit you
If you want to focus your stay on the water, swimming at Lago di Serraia, the beach at Lago delle Piazze and activities such as kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding are the main attractions. For active days, the lake circuits, the Bedolpian hike and the easy visitor trail at Laghestel are good options. Those who prefer sacred art and local history can plan visits to Montagnaga, the Antica Pieve, the Albergo Museo alla Corona and the Mulino Moser di Prada. When choosing your hotel, it is therefore worth deciding first whether lakes, trails, nature or historic sites should be the focus of your trip.
