By Lake Caldonazzo and on the Valsugana cycle path

Calceranica al Lago stretches from the hill to Lake Caldonazzo. Along the lake there are green shore areas, campsites, beaches and leisure activities. The Valsugana cycle path runs through the town. It is suitable for everyone, has no particularly challenging climbs and follows long straight sections with few changes of direction. If you prefer a route without demanding climbs and want to combine time by the water with cycling, this route gives the town a clear focus. For planning the Valsugana cycle path through Calceranica al Lago, the straight sections, changes of direction and lack of particularly challenging climbs are key factors.

Mining as part of the history of Calceranica al Lago

The Museo della Miniera documents the community of Calceranica's intensive mining activity from 1800 to the second half of the 20th century. On display are miners' equipment and accessories, documents, photographs, maps, as well as drilling, ventilation and transport machinery. Educational panels also provide information about the local geology and the area's mineralisation. A historic photograph from the Galleria Leyla shows a train used to transport the extracted ore. This gives you a tangible insight into the working world, technology and landscape associated with mining.

Churches and historic landmarks in the town centre

In the historic centre, the Chiesa di Sant'Ermete stands on a rocky elevation. It is considered the oldest church in Valsugana; an altar dedicated to the goddess Diana was found on this elevation. The Chiesa dell'Assunta is a Gothic-Renaissance building. An inscription on the main portal states that the church was built before 1208 and reconsecrated in 1537. Inside, it preserves an almost intact organ from 1805 by Antonio Callido of Venice, considered the only surviving organ by this organ builder in Trentino. The portal inscription and the year of the organ thus provide two specific dates in the history of the Assunta.

The Sentiero della Miniera – Percorso Verde circular route with museum, Roman road and waterways

The Sentiero della Miniera – Percorso Verde circular route starts at the Museo della Miniera. It leads to mining and historic sites in Calceranica and Bosentino, follows an ancient Roman road through forests and along waterways, and returns via the Sentiero del Minatore. If you want to understand mining history not only in the museum but also in the surrounding landscape and in connection with forest and water landscapes, this circular route links different historical and natural landmarks. Starting at the museum and returning via the Sentiero del Minatore define the circuit for route planning.
