Fiera di Primiero between its riverside setting and history

Fiera di Primiero lies at the confluence of the Canali and Cismon streams. In the 15th century, the town was founded as a place for markets and commercial exchange. Here, you will therefore encounter both a distinctive landscape setting and a long connection between local history and trade.

The Chiesa della Madonna dell’Aiuto is one of the important architectural landmarks of Fiera di Primiero. The Chiesa arcipretale di Santa Maria Assunta was built in the Gothic style and was largely constructed by workers from the local mines. It was completed in 1493.

Churches and architectural landmarks

In Pieve stands the Chiesetta di San Martino a Pieve. It dates from the Ottonian period, is around ten centuries old and therefore displays a Romanesque style. It also preserves fragments of valuable frescoes. Until mid-September, the church is open for visits from Tuesday to Sunday, from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 15:30 to 18:30. Via Rivetta Koch takes you from Fiera di Primiero to the district of Pieve in just a few minutes.

Palazzo delle Miniere and P-QUĂŚ

Palazzo delle Miniere was built in the second half of the 15th century and is considered an important example of Late Gothic architecture; it was presumably influenced by Brixen. Along the Contrada are rows of colorful townhouses featuring architectural characteristics typical of Tyrolean Alpine villages.

Palazzo delle Miniere is home to P-QUĂŚ, an interactive museum and timeline covering the history of Primiero, which opened in July 2020. P-QUĂŚ combines permanent collections, historical tools and historical narratives. This means that several different approaches to the local and mining history are located close together in Fiera di Primiero.

Hiking trails and mountain views

The first stage of the Primiero Slow Tour begins in Fiera di Primiero and leads over 10.7 km to Passo Cereda in approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes. The Monte Bedolè hiking trail leads uphill from Fiera di Primiero along the entire eastern slope of Cima Bedolé. From there, particularly impressive views extend over the Pale di San Martino and the Cimonega Group.

The Pale di San Martino are also visible from Fiera di Primiero from a particularly characteristic perspective. For planning a connection, a service is available from June 27 to September 6, 2026, departing from the Fiera di Primiero bus station; the return journey starts in Paneveggio.

If you are looking for a hotel in Fiera di Primiero, you can plan your days around the town’s key attractions: historic churches, P-QUÌ in Palazzo delle Miniere, or trails whose stages and ascents begin in Fiera.
