Discover Lenzumo in Val Concei

A trip to Lenzumo can combine hiking in Val Concei with mountain history. Those planning an individual stay in the mountains will find various ways to shape their daily schedule: longer trails, alpine landscapes and historical landmarks come together at different excursion destinations. A sacred site or chapel dedicated to Saint Sylvester has been documented in Lenzumo since 1537.

Hikes with clear key details

The hike to Cima Pari begins at a trailhead near Malga Trat, approximately 6 km above Lenzumo in Val Concei. The tour takes about 5 hours, involves approximately 600 metres of elevation gain and is classified as EE. These details will help you categorise the excursion as a longer mountain hike in your daily programme and take the time required into account when choosing your accommodation in Lenzumo.

The Giro delle baite di Concei leads to the meadows, mountain huts and alpine pastures of Concei. The route therefore focuses on the alpine cultural landscape and its traditional forms of use. The Rifugio Pernici Trail offers a different perspective: near Lenzumo, it climbs along the road towards Bocca di Trat and Rifugio Nino Pernici.

Traces of mountain and wartime history

Rifugio Bocca di Trat – Nino Pernici was inaugurated in 1929 on the ruins of barracks from the First World War. Together with the chapel in Lenzumo documented since 1537, it creates a historical contrast between religious tradition and the traces of alpine military history.

On the section of the First World War route near Lenzumo, La Rocca can be reached from a mountain hut in about 15 minutes on foot. Doss de le Fratte is an Austrian military position with trenches and a bunker carved into the rock. The position below Mazza di Pichea was used during the First World War by observers monitoring Val Concei. The hike to Galleria Riccabona also leads to First World War fortifications below Mazza di Pichea.

Getting to the hiking trailheads

For the Giro delle baite di Concei hike, Lenzumo is the nearest public transport stop; from there, 4 km must be covered on foot. Lenzumo is also the nearest public transport stop for the Giro delle cime – metà percorso route, with a further 3 km to be covered on foot to reach the trailhead. Val di Ledro is connected by the regional bus route 214 between Riva del Garda, Val di Ledro and Storo.

If Lenzumo is your accommodation base, you can incorporate both of these walks directly into your daily planning. The different distances make it clear that public transport does not replace the same final section for both routes. The choice of trailhead therefore remains a separate part of your planning.

A winter aspect of Val Sorda

In winter, when there is snow, Val Sorda becomes a cross-country ski trail. This seasonal winter sports option complements the hikes, alpine pastures and historical destinations that shape the character of the area around Lenzumo.
