Locca in Val Concei: Culture, Trails and Mountain Landscapes
Accommodation in Locca
Locca at the entrance to Val Concei
Locca lies at the entrance to the green Val Concei, just beyond the village of Bezzecca. The area’s combination of local history and landscape is reflected in a church, a cultural centre, and trails through the valley and the forests above the village.
The former chapel from which the Chiesa di San Martino Vescovo developed has been documented since 1537. The church acquired its present appearance through an extension in 1730. In Locca, you can therefore encounter a religious building whose history can be traced back over several centuries.
Church and culture in Locca
In 1671, the Chiesa di San Martino had three consecrated altars: the high altar was dedicated to the church’s patron saint, San Martino, while the two side altars were dedicated to San Rocco and Santa Maria Maddalena respectively.
The Centro culturale di Locca is authorised to host conferences, small concerts, film screenings and theatrical performances. Its programme therefore ranges from spoken-word formats to music, film and the stage.
Trails through Val Concei

The Coste di Bariolo route heads towards Val Concei and crosses the forests above Locca. On the way to Locca, it follows a paved road closed to traffic. This route therefore combines a connection to the valley with a section through the surrounding woodland.
From Locca, country lanes lead to Enguiso and Lenzumo. From there, you can take the nature trail along the valley floor, designated as Route 728 for mountain bikers; it leads to the village of Al Faggio.
An elegant 18th-century fountain in Locca is a convenient place to refill your water during a hike in Val Concei. This historic feature is therefore located directly at a practical point along the route.
