Malosco: Trails, Forest and Historical Traces
Accommodation in Malosco
Malosco between Plateau and Culture
Malosco lies on a sloping plateau on the left bank of the Sas stream. To the north, the forests and meadows of Dasine border Malosco.
The futurist artist Fortunato Depero, one of the leading representatives of the Futurist movement, was born in Malosco in 1892. Casa Nesler features a fresco and the coat of arms of the Guarienti family dating from 1576. The parish church of S. Tecla in Malosco dates back to 1228. Castel Malosco is located at the entrance to Malosco.
Art, Church and Historical Traces
A chapel stands in the nearby cemetery as a memorial to those who died in the war. It is decorated with graffiti by Wenter-Marini as well as other embellishments. For those interested in culture, the sights thus range from Futurism to the church, the castle and the memorial site.
Walking Trails and Forest Knowledge
From Malosco, you can follow the Predela and Ogià walking trail. The Chiaset-Dasine walking trail is also one of the green routes accessible from Malosco. This means both trails can be planned separately for walks starting from Malosco.
Il Bosco Certificato is an educational trail that climbs from Fondo to the village of Regole di Malosco. Along the trail, there are 16 informative stops explaining the ecological and scientific foundations of sustainable forest management in Trentino. Il Bosco Certificato is part of the network of forestry educational trails supported by the Autonomous Province of Trento. Anyone planning the ascent from Fondo to Regole di Malosco can take into account not only the walking distance but also the 16 stops as fixed stations along the route, allowing time for several short breaks.
Cross-Country Skiing, Cycle Path and Monte Penegal
In the Regole area north of Malosco, there are up to 11 km of cross-country ski trails, depending on snow conditions. The possible length therefore depends on the snow conditions and should not be treated as a fixed value when planning.
The Alta Val di Non cycle path has a divided profile: the western side is mostly flat, while the eastern section has more climbs.
Malga di Malosco is about a 40-minute walk from the village of Regole di Malosco. From Malga di Malosco, a trail leads to the scenic summit of Monte Penegal in a further 40 minutes. The route first leads from Regole di Malosco to the malga and then from there to Monte Penegal. Lunch and merenda, a snack between meals, are available at the malga; dinner is possible by reservation. For planning the day, the walk to the malga, the further ascent and a break with lunch or merenda can be scheduled separately.
