Mori between Montalbano, Trails and Local History

Mori combines culture, trails and regional lifestyle. The Santuario di Montalbano, historic buildings, signposted routes, a cycling connection and Trentino traditions offer you different ways to experience the town and its surroundings.

Churches, Squares and Historic Traces

The Santuario di Montalbano stands at the foot of the ruins of an ancient castle that was destroyed by the Venetians in 1439. After leaving your car in Mori or Mori Vecchio, you can reach the sanctuary on foot in 15 minutes. It is connected to the history of the municipality of Mori; six wooden reliefs on the church portal depict the construction of the church in 1556. At certain times of the year, the Santuario serves as a venue for organised pilgrimages by the Mori parish and is a stage on the Cammino di San Rocco. The Sagra di San Giuseppe is also associated with the sanctuary and usually takes place on the last Sunday in March.

The town's architectural heritage also includes the Teatro Sociale Gustavo Modena, with the architectural features typical of Venetian theatres, and the Chiesa di Sant'Agata in Corniano, considered the oldest church in the valley that is still in use. The Romanesque parish church of Santo Stefano is one of the buildings worth visiting in Mori. A 15th-century rectory stands on Piazza Maggiore, while Palazzo Salvadori dates from the 18th century.

Hiking, Via Ferrata and Cycling

The Cammino di San Rocco is a 70-kilometre trail through Mori. It is signposted as route F20 with official SAT signs and white-and-red trail markings. The first stage runs from Mori to Ronzo-Chienis. The Via Ferrata Ottorino Marangoni - Monte Albano was created in 1976 by the Mori section of CAI-SAT. It is reached from Mori town centre via the uphill path to the Santuario di Montalbano.

For a shorter circular tour, the Anello di Mori Alta is available, covering 10.3 kilometres, with a stated duration of 3 hours and 45 minutes and starting at the Santo Stefano church. On the way back to Mori, the route initially leads through a forest and then through the old district of Mori. Near Mori, the Ciclovia Adige-Garda connects to Ciclovia No. 1 of the Valle dell'Adige; it begins directly below the ENEL weir near Mori.

Trentino Traditions and Flavours

The Ganzega d'Autunno has been associated with Mori's historic centre for more than 25 years. At this open-air event, history, local traditions and authentic flavours come together. It includes demonstrations of traditional crafts and food stalls offering traditional dishes from Trentino.

The Cantina Mori Colli Zugna also offers a direct insight into the local wine culture: its new underground premises were created in 2011, and wine is also sold directly there.

Getting There and Planning Your Location

Mori can be reached by regional trains via Mori station, by long-distance trains via Rovereto and by the province's regional bus services. You can take these connections into account when choosing accommodation in Mori, along with the routes to churches, squares, events and starting points for hiking or cycling experiences.
