Art and mountain landscapes in Pampeago

Pampeago combines art parks with trails through the Latemar landscape. In Pampeago, the Latemar.Art trail leads through the Pampeago Green and White Gallery, considered one of the highest-altitude art parks in the world. RespirArt is a 3-kilometre-long art park in Pampeago, extending between altitudes of 2,000 and 2,200 metres. Both destinations add a cultural dimension to your stay without restricting you to traditional museum spaces.

The routes to the mountain destinations can also be clearly followed from Pampeago. The Latemarium can be reached from Pampeago by chairlift. From Pampeago, you can reach the Latemar.360° panoramic platforms at Passo Feudo and in the village of Tresca by taking the Latemar and Agnello chairlifts, followed by easy walks. For planning purposes, both the mountain-lift connections and the short walking sections are therefore key considerations.

Hikes in different formats

To hike to Rifugio Torre di Pisa, take the Latemar chairlift from Pampeago and then walk for about 20 minutes along trail 504 to Passo Feudo. Latemar.Panorama can also be reached on foot from Pampeago: Take the Latemar chairlift to Passo Feudo, then continue along trails 516 and 22.

A different way of exploring the area is offered by the audio adventure hike “Il segreto dell’ometto veneziano”. It combines interactive viewpoints with riddles and covers about 1.4 kilometres, taking approximately two hours. The recurring event “I suoni e la vita della malga”, on the other hand, consists of a short walk from the Tresca chairlift car park to Malga Pampeago. From Pampeago, you can reach Malga Mayrl by taking the Latemar chairlift and then walking for about 30 minutes.

Another meeting point in Pampeago is Rifugio Agnello. Rifugio Agnello can be reached from Pampeago by taking the Agnello chairlift.

Protected area and wildlife

If you would like to include the landscape and its wildlife in your hikes, two routes lead through the same designated area: the Giro del Monte Cornon runs through the Alta Val di Stava area, while a large part of the Giro del Monte Agnello runs through it. Alta Val di Stava is designated as a Site of Community Importance and a Special Protection Area. The area provides a habitat for Alpine wildlife such as marmots, chamois, roe deer, red deer and eagles.

Cycling tour over Passo Pampeago

The Giro del Latemar cycling tour crosses Passo Pampeago at an altitude of 1,983 metres. The pass is closed to motor traffic. When planning your tours, you should therefore consider the route of the cycling tour and the traffic closure at the pass separately.
