Panchià lies on State Road 48 of the Dolomites. The Avisio stream crosses the town, while Panchià is dominated by the Massiccio del Cornon and Monte Agnello. This gives you access to the town through several closely connected themes: paths along the water, mountain landscapes, bridges and cultural-historical traces.

Bridges and traces along the Avisio

A distinctive feature associated with Val Cavelonte is the covered wooden bridge Ponte coperto di Panchià. It is unique of its kind in Trentino and connects Panchià with Val Cavelonte. The walk “Il ponte coperto di Panchià” follows the Avisio to an old covered larch-wood bridge. The route begins at Piazza Chiesa and descends along Via Cavelonte to the covered bridge. Along the walking route to Val Cavelonte, you can also admire the monumental tree “Pecio del Cuco”.

Above the Avisio stands the Ponte vecchio with its double-pitched wooden roof; it is dated to 1903. Panchià is also home to the Capitèl dei Nastasi, a Gothic aedicule decorated with frescoes. The parish church of S. Valentino is dated to 1190. Every year, on the first Sunday in August, a mass is celebrated in the Chiesa del Redentore in Cavelonte. The local character also includes a tradition of woodworking. On the slopes of the Cornon, characteristic shepherds’ inscriptions in red ochre have been found for more than three centuries; locally, this pigment is called “ból”.

Walking routes and trekking

Panchià has the “pontolaia” walking route, the “Sentiero di Pensa” path and the “Giro delle Roe” walking route. These are joined by the Giro del Monte Cornon, a moderately difficult trekking route for Panchià and Tesero. The selection of routes therefore combines short walking options in the town with a route in the Monte Cornon area explicitly classified as moderately difficult.

Cycling through villages and forests

The Ciclabile di Fiemme passes through Panchià and is an easy, 20-kilometre cycling route. It follows the Avisio through villages, meadows and forests. In addition, the Easy Bike Ring - verde connects Ziano di Fiemme and Panchià. When choosing accommodation, you can take these different focuses into account in your own planning: walking routes, culture, cycling along the Avisio or the mountain landscapes around the Cornon.

Getting to Panchià

Panchià can be reached by scheduled buses operated by Trentino Trasporti and by ski buses from larger towns in Val di Fiemme. Together with its location on State Road 48 of the Dolomites, this provides clear guidance for the journey. The choice of a hotel or other accommodation can therefore be tailored to personal interests and planned mobility, without presupposing specific distances or features of individual properties.
