Pressano: Wine, Churches and Paths in the Piana Rotaliana
Accommodation in Pressano
Pressano showcases a clear connection to winemaking, along with sacred art and paths that place the village within its surrounding landscape. If you would like to combine culture and wine, you will find several specific points of interest here: churches, vineyards, Masì and paths between Pressano and Lavis.
Churches between the village square and the landscape
Two churches provide Pressano with distinct cultural points of reference. The parish church of San Felice da Nola stands beside Pressano’s village square. At the same time, it stands on Pressano Hill and looks out over the Piana Rotaliana. The adjacent Church of Sant’Anna preserves valuable paintings and woodwork from the artistic heritage of the Church of Pressano. San Felice da Nola and Sant’Anna are regarded as symbols of faith in Pressano.
Winemaking, history and art
Azienda Agricola Cesconi traces its winemaking roots on the hills of Pressano back to 1751. This gives winemaking here a specifically documented historical context. The “Terra e Cielo” statue is also located at Maso Poli. Marco Martalar created it from wood from Storm Vaia and shoots from the winery’s oldest vines. Winemaking and artistic expression thus emerge as two themes closely connected with Pressano.
Paths through vineyards and Masì
“Di maso in maso…di vino in vino” offers a walk along a carefully developed, accessible route to nine Masì. A suggested circular route covers approximately 4.7 km and takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. It connects the centre of Lavis with the vineyards and, after a short stretch through the woods, leads to Maso Clinga in Pressano. The two route ideas therefore place different emphasis on walking, the wine-growing landscape and connections between the villages.
Festivals featuring wine and regional cuisine
Events also highlight winemaking and local cuisine. “Pressano Divino in Festa” presented a selection of 30 local wine brands. There were also tastings and food stalls serving Tortel di patate, cutlets with French fries, Canederli and Strauben. The event reached its 17th edition; as with the previous editions, it took place at Casa Wackerle in the hamlet of Lavis. The event format of the same name, “Di maso in maso…di vino in vino”, included the villages of Pressano, Sorni and Giovo.
Pressano as a location choice
You can therefore clearly distinguish the main considerations when choosing your accommodation: winemaking, church art and the landscape shape the themes in Pressano. In addition, the suggested circular route connects the centre of Lavis with the vineyards and leads to Maso Clinga in Pressano; Casa Wackerle is located in the hamlet of Lavis. This keeps the village connection, route and event venue distinct when making your personal plans.
