Vason Between Mountain Sports and Village Life

Vason on Monte Bondone combines a variety of trails, winter sports and distinctive viewpoints with squares and festivals that give the village its own character. When planning your trip, it is therefore worth combining the sporting opportunities with the cultural sites and events taking place.

The easy Vason–Viote–Vason loop is 6.29 kilometres long and starts and ends in Vason. The route leads to the Torbiera delle Viote, an important natural area in the Viote plain, and offers views of the Three Peaks of Bondone. This makes it possible to combine a hike with scenic impressions around the Viote plain without changing the starting point.

Hiking and Cycling Routes

The Giro delle Viote da Vason also starts and ends at 1,650 metres in Vason. The loop route is designed for mountain bikes and e-bikes and runs mainly through the extensive, impressive Viote plain. After passing through the tunnels, it leads to the Piana delle Viote; from there, the Alpine Botanical Garden can be reached.

Another loop route is Vason–Palon–Vason, the Sentiero dei Mughi. It starts in Vason and runs along the northern slopes of Cima Palon. In summer, hikers can take the Palon chairlift up to Cima Palon and then hike back to Vason along the Sentiero dei Mughi. The lift starts in Vason at 1,650 metres and reaches Cima Palon, at 2,098 metres, in 9 minutes and 30 seconds.

Panoramas and Winter Sports

The Palon chairlift opens up a 360-degree panorama over the valleys below and the Brenta Dolomites. In winter, the Monte Bondone Snowpark adds to the range of activities; it has LED lighting for night-time opening hours. The Monte Bondone ski area near Vason is served by public transport, and a ski bus operates there in winter.

Squares, History and Festivals

Piazza Padre Cetto is an open, multifunctional space in Vason. In summer and winter, it is frequently used for events, rallies and folk festivals, and it is accessible and suitable for people with disabilities. As a result, the square is part of both practical orientation in the village and Vason’s public life.
