Film festival will be organized in Perugia

In March 2012 the Italian city of Perugia will hold its first ever film festival. The first film festival in Perugia will pass from 22 to 25 March 2012.

Festival in Perugia is not intended to compete with the most famous Italian film festival, which takes place every autumn in Venice. Perugia is not planning to hold competitions among filmmakers and choose the best.

Festival in Perugia will have a specific color. For the program will be selected films, where can be found examples of traditional crafts, as well as aesthetic and technological innovations. The main focus in selecting films for the festival will be made on the exceptional work of costume designers and artist directors.

During the festival will be organized round tables and discussion clubs, where will be able to participate filmmakers, journalists and critics. In the future festival will take part such well-known documentary filmmakers as DA Pennebaker, who became famous after the film about Bob Dylan UK tour – Don’t Look Back.

Organizers of the festival, among which is the artistic director Karen Arikyan and the president of the festival Emmannuele Rossi, plan to cooperate with Umbria Cinematic Commission in the preparation of the festival. Film production company of the future festival in Perugia will be Stratus Media Group.

According to the organizers, organizing of such festivals in Perugia is an opportunity to present for the audience the latest innovative trends in modern cinema. Perugia is known as a city of science and education in Italy. There are located two major universities. In addition, Perugia has experience in organizing major international festivals, which will undoubtedly be useful for the preparation of the Perugia International Film Festival.
