Villareia lies on fertile land to the left of the Pescara River. The waters of the nearby Pescara and Nora rivers helped make the area's small agricultural plots very fertile. Architecture and traces on site

The sights in the Villareia district include adobe houses. The Church of San Sebastiano in Villareia was built in 1989 to a design by engineer Angelo Faieta. Its interior consists of a single hall with a polygonal floor plan; the church also has a hollow bell tower. Those who view buildings in terms of their floor plan and design will find specific features here.

At the edges of the Ripa, an alluvial terrace on the Torrente Nora, terracotta vessels and oil lamps were found during earthworks in 1981. The site broadens the view to another section along the Nora. In this way, architectural details and an archaeological site offer distinct points of access side by side.

Festivals and events

The Festa della Madonna della Pietà is part of the annual calendar: it takes place in Villareia every year around the venerated image of the Madonna della Pietà. For the 2026 edition, Saturday, September 5, 2026, and Sunday, September 6, 2026, were scheduled. The 2026 edition of the carnival parade with allegorical floats from Villareia and Vallemare marked its ninth edition.

Another event was the Mostra del Fiore e dell’Artigianato. Its 14th edition took place on May 9 and 10 at the Istituto Agrario di Villareia di Cepagatti. In Villareia, the occasions therefore range from a festival centered on an image to the carnival parade and the Mostra dedicated to flowers and handicrafts.

The Nora and planned hiking experiences

The Nora also features in hiking and environmental events. The section along the Nora planned for the hike ran from Little Ranch in Villareia to the San Martino di Vallemare sports field. On a Sunday, an ecological hike in Cepagatti followed the banks of the Nora River. The environmental event “Wive la Nora” was intended to showcase a nature-oriented part of the area. Along the Nora, riverbanks and nature events therefore provide additional topics for visitors alongside the buildings and festivals.
