Lignano Riviera: Beach, Dunes and Cycling Tours Along the Tagliamento

Lignano Riviera combines beaches, dunes, lagoons and cycling routes along distinctive rivers. Between the Tagliamento Delta, the waterways and the Riviera Resort, there are various destinations for days spent by the water, on a bicycle and on foot.

Beach and Dunes Along the Tagliamento

The beach of Lignano Riviera is divided into five beach sections. Each section has its own beach bar; altogether, there are approximately 3,000 sun umbrellas spaced well apart. The coast therefore offers a clearly structured beach landscape. The approximate total of around 3,000 sun umbrellas applies to the five beach sections combined; the umbrellas are positioned with considerable space between them.

Directly behind Lignano Riviera, around thirty dune ridges interrupted by hollows can be seen in the estuary area of the Tagliamento Delta. The approximate number is intended as an indication of scale; the defining feature is the sequence of dune ridges and hollows. The dunes thus form a distinct landscape area at the river's estuary.

Seawater and Accessibility

At the Riviera Resort, the thermal pools cover an area of 3,000 m². Of this, 1,500 m² consists of freely accessible outdoor seawater pools with a direct view of the sea. In addition to the beach, a substantial wellness area is therefore part of the character of Lignano Riviera. The 1,500 m² corresponds to half of the total pool area. The direct sea view is a feature of these outdoor pools.

The Riviera Resort is fully accessible and wheelchair-accessible, allowing people with reduced mobility to use its attractions. Accessibility and wheelchair access refer specifically to the Riviera Resort.

Cycling Tours Through Coastal, Lagoon and River Landscapes

The cycling and walking circular route along the coast of Lignano and Bibione (R029) passes lagoon channels around Lignano. From spring to autumn, it also includes a bicycle ferry between Lignano Riviera and Bibione-Punta Tagliamento. The period from spring to autumn defines the seasonal operating window of the bicycle ferry.

The Ring of Two Rivers cycling tour (R044) reaches Lignano Riviera from Lignano Sabbiadoro via urban cycle paths and then follows the courses of the Tagliamento and Stella rivers.

Paths and Golf Between Water and Pine Trees

The paved cycling and walking path Itinerario n. 5 – Lungo l'acqua dolce is accessible to people with reduced or no mobility and is equipped with benches for relaxing breaks. The paved surface and the available benches make it possible to plan the route with scheduled rest breaks.

Golf Club Lignano has 18 holes set among bodies of water and the lush vegetation of the pine forest.
