Tertenia between Coast, Culture and Local Traditions
Accommodation in Tertenia
Tertenia can be explored through its various facets. Coastline, art, historic buildings, trails and local produce exist side by side, without the town being defined by a single type of traveller. When choosing a hotel in Tertenia, it is therefore worth first deciding what interests you most: Would you like to compare coastal formations, visit cultural sites, assess a trail or experience local traditions? The following places and topics provide a concrete overview.

Coastline between Sand and Rock
The Marina di Tertenia stretches for twelve kilometres and includes sandy beaches interrupted by rocky sections of coastline. At the foot of Monte Cartucceddu lies Foxi Manna beach, with light-coloured sand and a gently sloping seabed. Foxi Murdegu beach, also known as Melisenda, is more than one kilometre long and bordered by Mediterranean scrub. This gives you a varied picture for planning your time on the coast, with longer stretches, sand and rock, without these beaches forming a uniform landscape.
Art, Towers and Churches
The „Albino Manca“ Civic Museum of Modern Art presents the biographical and artistic development of Albino Manca in six themed rooms across two floors. The presentation covers the years of his training in Sardinia and Rome through to his success in the United States. The coastal watchtower Torre di Sarralà , also known as Torre di Saralà or Torre di San Giovanni, is located in the maritime area of the municipality of Tertenia and was built in the 18th century. The parish church of Tertenia is dedicated to the Beata Vergine Assunta; the church of Santa Teresa d’Avita dates from the 17th century. This brings you into contact with a range of different historical and cultural points of interest.
Trails and Traces of Mining
In Porto Santoru, the remains of a pier and mining facilities associated with the transport of minerals have been preserved among eucalyptus trees and mastic shrubs. The C-102 trail is considered a link between the coastal area of Cardedu, Marina di Gairo and Tertenia, as well as the Tacchi of Jerzu and the Bingionniga Forest. In addition, the official coastal hiking route „A guardia dell’incantevole costa sud-orientale“ names Marina di Tertenia as one of its stops. To reach the Aleri nuraghe, leave the car in the Foxi district; from there, a footpath leads to the nuraghe.
Local Festivals and Produce
Tertenia’s traditions include a costume parade in honour of San Pietro Apostolo. In August, a festival of typical local produce takes place, offering roasted and boiled mutton, cheese and local wines. These topics can serve as a guide when planning your stay: the coast and trails provide different focal points from museums, religious buildings or regional specialities. This means you can choose accommodation not according to a general pattern, but based on the experiences that particularly interest you in Tertenia.
Other destinations for your trip planning include Ussassai, Girasole, Elini, Loceri, Triei, Arbatax, Gairo Sant'Elena and Torre di Bari.
