Beaches with Different Characters
Li Junchi is a golden beach stretching for more than eight kilometres. From Badesi, you can reach it by car or via a footpath that takes about 20 minutes. Surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and pedal boating are possible at Spiaggia Li Junchi.
Li Mindi is a wild beach framed by dunes and untouched nature. It has a sea rescue service, toilets, showers and an information point. Baia delle Mimose has shallow water and is considered suitable for families with children. Poltu Biancu lies in wild natural surroundings; there is a small refreshment kiosk in front of the beach.
Water Sports and Nature on the Coast
The coast of Badesi is exposed to the Mistral and is considered suitable for windsurfing all year round. Kitesurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and wakeboarding are also available as water sports in Badesi. Northshore Kite School Sardinia offers kitesurfing, surfing, wing foiling, wakeboarding and stand-up paddleboarding there.
Northshore Kite School Sardinia offers individual and group courses for beginners through advanced participants, as well as training courses for new IKO kitesurfing instructors. The school also rents out sports equipment. Guided boat trips for birdwatching are offered at the mouth of the Coghinas River; there is also a cycle path along the estuary.
The Coghinas estuary is recognised as a Site of Community Importance (SCI) and provides a habitat for various animal and plant species. These include birds as well as carp, tench, eels, mullet and freshwater turtles. The water, cycle path and wildlife create a distinctive feature here alongside the beaches.
Culture and Everyday Gallurian Life
Centro Equestre La Rena Bianca offers horseback rides through the Gallurian countryside along the municipality of Badesi’s wild beaches, including Li Mindi. Everyone can take part in the rides; beginners are supported by a federal FITETREC riding instructor. The Gallurian language is still alive in Badesi and is passed down through everyday conversations.
The Chiesa del Sacro Cuore di Gesù was built between 1897 and 1900 on the property of Badesi resident Salvatore Stangoni. It was consecrated for Catholic worship in 1930 and is now the seat of the eponymous parish in the Diocese of Tempio-Ampurias.
The Carnevale Estivo Badesano began in 1984. The parade of allegorical floats and masked groups along Badesi’s main street also features traditional Sardinian masks. According to the municipality, the event attracts thousands of visitors and tourists.
